10/13/15 Berlin

Tumbler got lame… so here’s an official and fancy blog. I believe you can follow or bookmark or something if you would like consistent updates.

So much has happened since my last post!

For starters,  I have a crazy boyfriend who flew allll the way the Berlin to surprise me for my birthday! He brought over my favorite personalized mug from Columbus Bar and convinced my friend to tell me he shipped it to her. Then I got to watch a video from all my favorites back home AND then he showed up at the bar. Let’s just say I was a bit of a mess. I’m impressed how sneaky my friends are and wonderful of a surprise it was. I really needed a bit of a pick-me-up from a familiar face. Thank you Jeremy for being such a thoughtful man!

I also started class. As many know, I am studying ‘Intercultural Conflict Management.’ I have classes in International Relations. Diversity, Democracy, Inequality and Human Rights. They really like long days here. Mon, Tues and Thurs. I have basically 6 hours of class. I also have class about every other Friday. Lots of discussion time! The professors are all very good and bring some examples to the table. I believe this semester is mainly theory and next semester will be application. I really like being able to put context behind current global conflict and better understand why conflict arises. Thankfully, my undergrad in Communication had proven to be helpful. I wrote my thesis at DePauw on Crisis Communication and I’ve seen many relationships to this work.

It’s starting to get cold here, as well. The wind is what makes it unbearable. I tend to look like a rolling pile of blankets some days. Let’s hope for a mild winter!!

Berlin is Market Central … Vegan market, farmer’s market, flea market, pumpkin market, street food market ….it goes on and on! If you know anything about me, I love food and crafts and market things. So, I’m in heaven!

  1. Glad you left a picture of apartments. The floors are concrete and are heated through the floor. Very different. No screens/only big windows that open.
